StarBurn COM & .NET Wrapper released

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We're happy to announce we've released StarBurnX, COM & .NET wrapper over StarBurn Core SDK. Now COM & .NET application design should be trivial. StarBurnX comes with a set of samples for C++, C#, VB.NET and VB6.

Future versions of the StarBurn SDK will have StarBurnX as part of the standard installation, StarBurn.OCX will be dropped and kept as a stand-alone installation for compatibility reasons. For now StarBurnX has a separate installation. You can download it directly here:

Version 3.5.1 build 2007-10-25 of StarPort comes with these updates:

StarWind 3.5.1 released.

New version of product mostly addresses various issues from previous release. It is recommended to upgrade to this version which introduces these updates and fixes:

Free StarWind and StarPort announced.

Rocket Division Software announces free versions of StarWind iSCSI Target and StarPort iSCSI Initiator.

StarWind, which runs on Microsoft Windows, allows any server or workstation (Windows, Linux, UNIX, etc) to access centralized storage, providing a cost-effective and easy-to-customize method for implementing and gaining all the benefits of a storage area network (SAN).

The free version of StarWind provides up to 2TB of storage capacity and allows only single client host to be connected. Customers requiring enhanced features such as clustering, snapshots, replication and additional storage capacity can choose between the Standard edition for $395 and the Professional edition for $995. With the addition of the free StarPort iSCSI initiator customers have a single point of support for both the server side storage SAN and the client side iSCSI agent.

StarWind version 3.5 released.

New version of the product introduces number of improvements and fixes. The most important changes are:

• Windows 2008 Server (Longhorn) clustering (persistent reservations) is supported.
  
• VMware ESX fully compatible. All of the ESX initiator issues successfully worked out.
  
• CHAP values generation optimized.
  
• Access to the local unclaimed devices is allowed now.
  
• iSCSI volume cache synchronization sequence added.
  
• "Switch active mirror" and fast volume synchronization (MD5 checksum
  calculated) added to the Mirror (RAID1) plug-in.
  
• Mirror synchronization progress indication added.
  
• Windows 2000 SP4 support re-enabled.
  
• Volume data compression and encryption added.
  
• Target now can force-remove connected initiators.
  
• Fast image file creation sequence added. No more "delayed write" issues on the first write to the image file.
  
• Variable disk geometry supported. Now old Solaris initiators and Intel iSCSI boot code assuming fixed disk geometry work.
  
• Volume status information added to the device properties page.
  
• Major GUI fixes and a lot of new HOWTO manuals added.
